Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
This is Kym's second year in private practice. Kym is a Board Certified NCCAOM Acupuncturist and a proud Member of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine as well as the Arizona Society of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine. She is licensed to practice Acupuncture in both Arizona and Oregon.
What is your primary product or service?
Liferoot Acupuncture provides all aspects of Acupuncture which includes not only Acupuncture but many other forms of the healing arts associated with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Here are descriptions of acupuncture and some of the other healing processes.
Qi (pronounced chee) is the mysterious energy that is behind all life force and so essential to health. The needles, used properly, bring this energy into alignment and allow the energy to flow unimpeded through the entire body system. Acupuncture has been used for over 30 centuries effectively providing relief and healing.
Cupping, is designed to move the blood, dispel pain, and open the lungs to assist breathing. Small glass cups are placed over specific areas of the body. A vacuum is created under the cup using suction. This lifts the skin and brings blood, i.e. circulation, which promotes a healing response from the body to the afflicted area.
Moxibustion is a treatment using an herb called mugwort. The herb is burned, warming the needles or acupuncture points to quicken the healing process. Moxibustion nourishes the places where energy is low and encourages the body's own healing mechanisms.
Tui Na massage manually moves Qi in various parts of the body clearing blocks, improving range of motion in the joints, increases circulation, and relieves pain.
We also provide Nutritional Counseling services to assistant patients in between treatments by using the food they choose as medicine to promote wellness and change patterns.
